Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) encompass chemicals and solvents harmful to human health when inhaled. The length of time a VOC remains in the air depends on its concentration, and the likelihood of inhalation and adverse effects increases with exposure.

Some butane-free aerosol products currently on the market include deodorants, air fresheners, food products, lubricants and degreasers, and insecticides. They are an eco-conscious alternative that poses a comparatively minimal risk to human health, and many industries are redesigning their products to accommodate them.
